SIX QUICK ONES WITH JOSCHA FINHOLD

Joscha Finhold is the founder of HOLDHOLD, quite a new Germany-based furniture brand for puristic and timeless design. They combine contemporary design with traditional craftsmanship. We got the chance to furnish an apartment with their beautiful pieces and also to sit down with Joscha for a moment and ask him our favorite six.

First of all, please define your style of work!
For me it is always the contrasts that make a piece of furniture exciting. The contrast between clear lines and soft curves or between two different materials that work together to create harmony. That's why I often fall back on basic geometric shapes from which my compositions are created.

Your dream piece to design? Or maybe you already did?
I love the architecture and interior style of the 60s and 70s. I'm in the process of designing a coffee table that I'm going to build out of solid oak and marble and I'm really excited if it can create some of that vintage vibe.

Hektorstraße 17, Berlin.

Your current favorite restaurant (in Germany or somewhere else in the world)?
In my hometown of Bielefeld there is a small restaurant called Nohut. Tasty traditional Turkish food and very pleasant atmosphere.

Your favorite app!
Definitely Ebay Kleinanzeigen. I can spend hours seeking for old treasures.

Your favorite building in Europe!
Villa del Balbianello on Lake Como. The garden, the location and the whole environment are just stunning.

Your one piece of furniture you take with you on every move?
Probably the prototype of my first stool, which also became the first piece in my P collection. Over the years it has served me as a bedside table, stool and table for my favourite plant.

Thanks a lot for your time dear Joscha and good luck with all your future pieces and projects!
